Privacy & Your Data

What data Wintro accesses, how it's used, and how long it's stored.

Your privacy matters. This page explains exactly what data Wintro accesses when you participate in your company’s referral program, how that data is used, and what controls you have.

What Data Does Wintro Access?

When you connect your network, Wintro accesses:

  • Your public LinkedIn profile, name, job title, company, and profile photo
  • Your connections list, the people you’re connected to on LinkedIn
  • Public profiles of your connections, name, job title, work history, and education

What Wintro Never Accesses

  • Your private messages or conversations
  • Your job search activity or applications
  • Your LinkedIn InMail or inbox
  • Any content you’ve liked, shared, or commented on
  • Your email, phone number, or other private contact details

How Is Your Data Used?

Wintro uses your connections list for one purpose: matching people in your network with open roles at your company. Here’s the process:

  1. Your connections are cross-referenced against open vacancies
  2. AI evaluates each potential match based on the recruiter’s criteria (job title, experience, location, etc.)
  3. The best matches are shown to you as suggestions
  4. You decide what happens next, refer, recommend, or decline

Your data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

What About Candidate Data?

When someone in your network appears as a suggestion, Wintro only stores their publicly available information, name, work experience, and education. No private details.

If you refer someone and they apply through the personalized link:

  • They enter their own contact details (email, phone, CV) directly
  • That information goes straight to your company’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Wintro does not store private candidate details like phone numbers, emails, or CV files

How Long Is Data Stored?

  • Active participation: Your data is retained while your company uses Wintro and you’re part of the program
  • After leaving: If you leave the company or your company stops using Wintro, your data is securely deleted within 90 days
  • Network data: Connection data is refreshed periodically to keep suggestions relevant, old data is replaced, not accumulated

Can I Control My Data?

Yes. You have several options:

  • Disconnect your network: Go to your Settings and disconnect LinkedIn at any time. Your connections will no longer be used for matching.
  • Decline to sync your network: During onboarding, you can choose not to sync your network. You can still make referrals when colleagues or recruiters share vacancies with you, you just won’t receive AI-generated suggestions
  • Request data deletion: Contact your company admin or email support@wintro.ai to request removal of your data
  • GDPR rights: As an EU-based platform, Wintro fully complies with GDPR. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time

Where Is Data Stored?

All data is stored within the EU (Frankfurt, Germany) on encrypted infrastructure. Wintro uses industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption, OAuth 2.0 authentication, and AES-256 encryption for stored data.

For the full technical details, see our Data Processing and GDPR documentation.

Is My Network Visible to Others?

No. Your connections list is never shown to recruiters or other employees. Recruiters only see candidates who match their vacancy criteria, they don’t see your full network or who you’re connected to. The only way a recruiter knows you’re connected to a candidate is if that candidate appears as a match for a specific vacancy.
