Getting Started with Google
Overview of all Google Workspace integrations available in Wintro and how to set them up.
Wintro integrates with Google Workspace for authentication and for sending nudge emails from each recruiter’s own Gmail mailbox. This page gives you an overview of what’s available.
What You Can Set Up
Not supported yet: Wintro does not currently support Google Chat notifications or SCIM user provisioning for Google Workspace. If your team needs either, contact us at support@wintro.ai, we prioritise new integrations based on customer demand.
One Consent Screen, Three Capabilities
Connecting Google to Wintro is a single OAuth flow. Whether a user signs in with Google for the first time or connects Gmail for sending, they see one Google consent screen requesting all three scopes:
| Scope | Used for |
|---|---|
userinfo.email | Identifying the Wintro account |
userinfo.profile | Showing the user’s name in Wintro |
gmail.send | Sending nudge emails on the user’s behalf |
Granting all three at consent time means a recruiter who signs in with Google can immediately switch their email provider to Gmail without a second authorisation flow. Users who decline gmail.send can still log in but won’t be able to select Gmail as their nudge sender until they reconnect.
What Needs IT Admin vs. What Doesn’t
| Capability | IT Admin Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Continue with Google | No | Works out of the box unless your Google Workspace admin restricts third-party app access |
| Gmail (Email Sending) | ️ Sometimes | Only if your org restricts user consent for the gmail.send scope |
| SSO (SAML) | Yes | SAML metadata configured in Google Workspace + Wintro admin enables it per email domain |
Recommended Setup Order
- SSO (SAML), Set up first if your organisation requires single sign-on. A Wintro admin enables SAML SSO per email domain once your IT team has configured a SAML app in Google Workspace.
- Continue with Google, For organisations not enforcing SSO, recruiters and employees sign in with their existing Google account, no setup needed on either side in most cases.
- Gmail, Each recruiter connects Gmail from their settings so nudge emails come from their own address.
