FAQ
Frequently asked questions about using Wintro as an employee.
How does Wintro find candidates in my network?
When you connect your LinkedIn, Wintro compares your connections’ public profiles (job titles, experience, education) against open vacancies at your company. AI evaluates how well each connection matches the role requirements set by your recruiter. Only strong matches are shown to you as suggestions.
What’s the difference between Refer and Recommend?
Refer means you personally reach out to the candidate with an application link. Recommend means you flag them as a good fit and let the recruiter take it from there. Referring has more impact and typically qualifies for referral bonuses, while recommending is better for connections you don’t know well enough to message directly.
Can I undo a recommendation or “not a fit” decision?
Yes. Go to your Intros tab, use the filter to find the candidate, and click the revert option. Note that referrals (where a link was already sent) work differently — see Track your Referrals for how to cancel a referral.
I referred someone but they haven’t applied yet. What can I do?
Give them a few days — not everyone acts immediately. If needed, send a friendly follow-up message. You can check the status of your referral in the Referrals tab. If they tell you they’re no longer interested, you can cancel the referral from there.
Why am I seeing suggestions for people I don’t really know?
LinkedIn connections don’t always reflect real-world relationships. If you’re connected to someone but don’t actually know them, choose Don’t Know Them when declining. This tells Wintro not to suggest that person to you again.
Do my suggestions change over time?
Yes. New suggestions appear when:
- New vacancies are opened by your recruiters
- Your network is re-synced and new connections are found
- A candidate you were matched with is no longer being considered for a role
Can recruiters see my full LinkedIn network?
No. Recruiters only see candidates who match their vacancy criteria. They cannot browse your connections list or see who you’re connected to outside of specific vacancy matches. See Privacy & Your Data for full details.
What if I don’t want to sync my network but still want to make referrals?
That’s fine. Declining the network sync only means Wintro won’t proactively suggest candidates from your connections. You can still participate in your company’s referral program — if a recruiter or colleague shares a vacancy with you, you can refer someone you know directly.
How do I disconnect my network?
Go to Settings in Wintro and disconnect your LinkedIn account. Your connections will no longer be used for matching. You can reconnect at any time.
Do I get a bonus for every referral?
Bonus eligibility depends on your company’s referral program policy. Typically, bonuses are paid when a referred candidate is hired and completes a probation period. The bonus amount (if any) is shown on the vacancy card. Check with your HR team for specific terms.
What if I see someone I know but they’re not a good fit for this role?
Choose Not a Vacancy Fit when declining. This tells Wintro the person isn’t right for this particular role but may be suitable for other positions. If they’re not a fit for your company at all, choose Not a Company Fit instead.
I didn’t receive an invitation email. What should I do?
Check your spam/junk folder first. If it’s not there, ask your recruiter or company admin to resend the invitation from the Team tab in Wintro. If you’re using Microsoft SSO, you may be able to log in directly at wintro.app without an invitation.
Can I suggest someone who isn’t in my LinkedIn network?
Wintro’s suggestions are based on your connected network, so only your LinkedIn connections appear as matches. However, you can always tell your recruiter about someone you know outside of LinkedIn — they can add the candidate manually or search for them directly.
